Minneapolis Video Fun!

This is not a photographic blog entry, but rather, a video I've just created. I thought I'd share it here. I filmed it last winter from the top of the Foshay Tower and the Skyways near Nicollet mall. I hope you enjoy it!

Minneapolis to St Paul, Light Rail Construction Progress.

Here is a nice vista from a parking ramp, overlooking a bit of light rail Central Corridor construction in Minneapolis.
This Light Rail line will eventually take riders from Minneapolis to Saint Paul and back. It's a pretty big deal. It crosses over the Mississippi via the Washington Ave Bridge, and through the center of the U of M campus. It will continue down University ave.

MCAD Minneapolis Art Bridge Disapproval?

I kinda like how the lines echo the convention center, but it looks like this design is not MCAD student approved!
It's still a nice place to shoot the Minneapolis skyline.

Sunset Colors After Rainy Minneapolis

I thought these were pretty nice colors from a great perspective. It had been raining a bit and the Minneapolis streets have a reflective quality to them. The old fashion power line posts also make these classic photographs.

Thurston Moore at Varsity Theater, Minneapolis. July 18, 2011

Mr Thurston Moore swung by to play some tunes. I loved the music, but it was extremely hot in the Varsity that night. I was trying to make videos and photos, and I came out with 10 gigs worth of stuff, but none to pro. It was a shake fest!  Great performance though. They  encored with "In Silver Rain with a Paper Key" into Psychic Hearts!

Columbia Park Community Gardens. Time to bloom!

Now that the weather will allow it, let's get growing!

There doesn't look to be a ton of urban farming enthusiasts out there.. I wonder what's to become of the community gardens this season. The only website Columbia Park has, hasn't been updated in quite a while. If I remember correctly, you're supposed to donate 15 bucks to the Neighborhood organization to use a plot, but since I can't find them ( I should probably look for them at a Rugby game) I'm going to volunteer and guerrilla garden where I can. And any food produced can be shared with everyone. In my opinion, they should just open the whole project up to volunteers and double the amount of plots. Or just till a larger area of soil.
If anyone knows a link, or can identify the leadership of this project, please let me know.
